What Have You Won?
A student raised his hand in class to ask the teacher, “Sir, you once advised us to think from a challenging idea. May we have such an idea from which to think?'
“Please tell me,” replied the teacher, “of a business or social success you have won recently.”
“Yesterday, I sold some property at a high profit.”
“Now that you have won, what have you won?”
“Sir, I don't understand.”
“Do you feel any less threatened by unexpected events?”
“No.”
“Are you more able to prevent your mind from running around in frantic flight?”
“No.”
The teacher said to the entire class, “whether you win a raise in pay or win an argument, what must you ask yourself?”
A student answered, “Now that I have won, what have I won?” “Think from that.”
