Inspiring Stories
Timeless stories that will inspire and brighten your day.
The Fisherman
“I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siestas with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine, and play guitar with my amigos. I have a full and busy life.”
Slimy Potatoes
My teacher had each of us students get a clear plastic bag and a sack of potatoes. Then for every person we'd refuse to forgive in our life, we had to take a potato, write on it the name of the person and the date, and put the spud in the plastic bag. Some of the bags, as you can imagine, grew very heavy.
I Asked God
I asked G-d to give me happiness. G-d said, “No. I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you.”
The Pink Dress
There was this little girl sitting by herself in the park. Everyone passed by her and never stopped to see why she looked so sad. Dressed in a worn pink dress, barefoot and dirty, the girl just sat and watched the people go by. She never tried to speak. She never said a word.
I Wish You ‘Enough’
Recently, I overheard a father & daughter in their last moments together. They had announced her plane's departure and standing near the security gate, they hugged and he said, "l love you. I wish you enough.”
What Goes Around Comes Around
Under the napkin were four more $100 bills. Well, there were tables to clear, sugar bowls to fill, and people to serve, but the waitress made it through another day. That night when she got home from work and climbed into bed, she was thinking about the money and what the lady had written.
Life Lessons
Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people. He who loses money loses much; he who loses a friend loses much more.
All You Need to Know From a Tree
Be flexible so you don't break when a harsh wind blows. Sometimes you have to shed your old bark in order to grow.
Set Your Priorities
If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your energy and time on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Perspective
There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations. Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.
Bank of Time
Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.
The Music Teacher
He was the teacher and I was the pupil. For it is he that taught me the meaning of perseverance and love and believing in yourself and maybe even taking a chance in someone and you don't know why.
To a Phenomenal Woman
I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.
Cosmic Truth
Every cosmic truth has its human counterfeit. There is true happiness and false happiness, authentic progress and pseudo-progress, right thinking and wrong thinking.
Where is God?
When we are in the world of the mind, we are not here now and so we miss the truth of life and the truth of God, which is always of the present moment.
The Test of Time
Perhaps the most powerful trigger for igniting a man's reactive impulses is the concept of time. Einstein demonstrated to all mankind that time is, in fact, an illusion. However, we allow this illusion to govern our lives, to dictate our emotions and control our behavior.
Obstacles & Challenges
Bbstacles and challenges are woven into the very fabric of existence. Instead of wishing them away, or running from them, we must embrace and transcend them if we are to find genuine happiness and fulfillment.
